(1 Nov 2019) Forensics experts in Cambodia will on Friday try to determine the cause of death of British backpacker Amelia Bambridge, whose body was found in the sea in the Gulf of Thailand, a week after she went missing after attending a beach party on the island of Koh Rong.
Her body was brought to a hospital in Sihanoukville on the mainland on Thursday evening.
Her brother Harry later confirmed it was the body of the 21-year-old from Worthing, on the south coast of England.
Authorities had launched an intensive air, sea and land search for Amelia Bambridge, and her body was spotted by fishermen.
She was initially identified by clothing and by tattoos which matched photos taken on the night she disappeared.
Her bag with money and a cellphone were found on a rock near the edge of the ocean, leading authorities to lean towards the theory that she had drowned.
