With NATO increasing its soldiery and weaponry in Ukraine, and America and Britain supplying sophisticated missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, coupled with Washington and London challenging Russian naval supremacy in the Black Sea, the world may soon be witness to a climax in the Ukraine crisis. Dr Marcus Papadopoulos, in this Al Mayadeen discussion, contended that Russia is responding to a grave menace on its southern border in which Ukraine is slowly being brought into the ranks of NATO. Furthermore, Dr Papadopoulos averred that Russians, Ukrainians, and Belorussians are the same people - East Slavs - and that a visit to Odessa, or Nikolaev, or Dnipropetrovsk, or Dniprodzerzhinsk, or Kharkov would reveal that most of the populations there regard themselves as part of the Russian World.
