Detailed review and test of the 2024 Lexus GX550 Luxury (called Premium in the USA), including features, comfort, interior and handling.
The new Lexus GX is a true 4WD. It is derived from the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (250 Series) platform, but it gets a much more powerful V6 petrol engine and a more upmarket interior.
But while most of the attention has been grabbed by the off-roading Overtrail model, the base GX Luxury (aka the GX Premium if you're watching in America) makes the best case for itself, I think.
Rivals to the GX include true 4WDs like the Toyota Prado and Nissan Patrol but also car-based SUVs like the BMW X5, Audi Q7, Mercedes GLE, Volvo XC90 and others.
