Speaker Biography: Dr. Omai Garner is an Associate Clinical Professor and Section Chief of Clinical Microbiology in the UCLA Health System. He received his PhD from UC San Diego in Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Garner's research focuses on lab diagnostics and novel Point of Care Devices for infectious disease diagnosis in the developing world.
Webinar: Candida auris: Strategies for Preventing an Outbreak
Webinar Abstract: This talk will cover Candida auris infection, colonization, and spread, through health care systems from a clinical case perspective. We will discuss clinical lab diagnostics for specific organism identification and how microbiology labs can implement both passive and active surveillance. The talk will also cover current CDC recommendations for limiting the spread of Candida auris.
