In the past, #Savona was a significant port city and a hub of trading. However, there has always been a fierce rivalry between Savona and Genoa, which reached a boiling point in 1528 when the Genoese planned a devastating expedition that buried Savona Harbour, putting an end to the city's naval dominance.
