Founded in 2003, Galerie Jocelyn Wolff opened with a solo show by Clemens von Wedemeyer, in a very small space in Belleville in East Paris. Most represented artists made their debuts with Galerie Jocelyn Wolff. In 2006, the gallery moved to a larger space in the same neighbourhood, rue Julien-Lacroix. As the gallery grew, the neighbourhood of Belleville developed into the most dynamic and vivid scene for emerging galleries in the city.

In October 2019, the gallery opened a space in the common project Komunuma in Romainville (Grand Paris). In 2020, we've decided to focus all our activities, and to move the office and exhibition space to Romainville.

Initially focusing on revealing emerging artists, the gallery gradually engaged in the promotion of key historical artists as Franz Erhard Walther, William Anastasi and Miriam Cahn. With a strong interest in sculptural and pictorial practices, the gallery has always tried to promote different mediums including video installations and performances.

Online private viewings

For those who wish to acquire works by our artist(s) or want to explore our rich inventory of available works but cannot come to the gallery in person, we are developing tailored viewing rooms. We propose to first discuss your needs, desires and ideas so that we can prepare a private viewing room for you online. Please contact either Sandrine Djerouet or Jocelyn Wolff.


Outdoor Projects and Commissions

With a program focused on sculpture, we have developed a rare expertise on private commissions and outdoor sculptures.

Currently, we are developing an experimental site, associating ecology, advanced experimental artistic practices and absolute respect of cultural heritage. More information coming soon…


On Going Green

Progressively and over the last few years, we began using boat transportation for international shipment and using collective transportation instead of individual cars. The gallery staff uses bicycles or public transportation wherever possible. The gallery also undertook an experimental site (Manoir d’Alvémont) exploring an ecological system for water. More information will be displayed on this project on our online platforms soon. The gallery is also changing the packing process, using green packing as opposed to non-green packing, etc. In sum, the gallery is advancing in its goal to become a responsible player in the twenty-first century.


Collaborative projects


Komunuma
Komunuma means "community" or "commune" in Esperanto, the language of sharing. This is the name adopted by five contemporary art galleries that came to Romainville in the fall of 2019, to which two new galleries have been added in 2020 and 2021, within a former 20th century industrial site. The site - a campus of nearly 11,000 m2 - was restored by the FREAKS architectural firm. On the same site, the Fiminco Foundation hosts an artists' residence and the Frac Île de France/Les Réserves organises collaborative exhibitions with works from the collection.
