Belgrade is a city cloaked in propaganda, peddled by a media intimidated by Milosevic's new law which exposes any group criticising him to fines and closure. Yet some newspapers manage to go on. The 'Dnevni' gives a voice to those who want to see an end to the old communist regime and to the violence committed in the name of Serbian nationalism. Tapping out their dissent on computers in Belgrade they e-mail their work to newspaper presses 400 miles away in the Yugoslavian province of Montenegro. The paper is then printed up and smuggled back into Serbia. The operation has the full backing of the province's President, Milo Djukanovic. He hopes Milosevic will fall by popular Serbian revolt. But on the streets of Belgrade it's becoming harder to air anti-government sentiment. Dnevni's vendors face arrest and the paper is nearly bankrupt.
