Hackers have recently attacked on-premises versions of Microsoft Exchange using zero-day exploits in an effort to obtain long-term access to victim environments.
According to Microsoft, hackers took advantage of previously unknown vulnerabilities to carry out targeted attacks against on-premises Exchange servers. This granted access to victim email accounts, which in turn allowed for the installation of additional malware.
