Spotvogel (Hippolais icterina) en argusvlinder (Lasiommata megera), twee soorten waarvoor ik graag op pad ga. Zo ver hoef ik dit voorjaar gelukkig niet te gaan. In het Alblasserbos, een paar kilometer van mijn huis, kom ik beide soorten tegen. De spotvogel zit luidkeels te zingen, de argusvlinder warmt zich op in de ochtendzon of is op zoek naar voedsel op de bloesem van een enorme braamstruik. De spotvogel herken je aan zijn vaste refreintjes die hij in zijn gevarieerde lied weeft. De argusvlinder is een dieporanje vlinder met een mooi lijnenspel op zijn bovenvleugels en natuurlijk de oogvlekken niet te vergeten. Met de argusvlinder gaat het helaas niet goed in Nederland. Ons landschap is kennelijk steeds minder geschikt voor deze dagvlinder. Gelukkig kwam ik hem op een paar plaatsen in het Alblasserbos nog tegen. Hopelijk passen de maaiplannen van gemeente en waterschap een beetje bij het leefritme van de argusvlinder.
Icterine warbler (Hippolais icterina) and Wall Brown (Lasiommata megera), two species for which I like to travel. Luckily I don't have to go that far this spring. In the Alblasserbos, a few kilometers from my house, I come across both species. The Icterine warbler is singing loudly, the Wall Brown is warming itself in the morning sun or is looking for food on the blossom of a huge blackberry bush. You can recognize the Icterine warbler by its regular choruses that it weaves into its varied song. The Wall Brown is a deep orange butterfly with beautiful lines on its upper wings and, of course, the eye spots. Unfortunately, the Wall Brown is not doing well in the Netherlands. Our landscape is apparently less and less suitable for this butterfly. Fortunately I came across him in a few places in the Alblasserbos. Hopefully the mowing plans of the municipality and water board will fit in somewhat with the rhythm of life of the Wall Brown.
