Begin by standing with a wide stance feeling the ground well and feeling balanced. Turn your wrist by 90 degrees left and right as shown in the video above to get the right feel for the laid back wrist.
After a minute open your wrist only by about 45 degrees.
Your next step before you hit the volley is to rotate your body by 45 degrees. Your hand will naturally open up a bit more and the strings will now face the net.
That means that you're now ready to hit the ball.
Repeat this drill for the forehand and the backhand volley without the ball first and eventually have someone feed you balls.
