All Agaves are monocarpic ... meaning they bloom once within their lifetime and then die. Before giving up all hope though, many of their flower stalks put on hundreds of plantlets (small, young plants), which fall to the ground and become new Agaves. In this video we take a look at a recently-bloomed-out Smooth Agave (Agave desmettiana).
