This is a short video explaining the response you'll "sometimes" get when using the MP V3 regarding targets on edge, there's a few very distinct points to take into account when understanding what the RGB meter is trying to tell you. BUT ! depending on target size, depth etc the machine still hits really hard when detecting targets on their side. You have to learn your machine, all my Nexus machines are slightly different and each has its own language.
