Neuroscientists and media experts produce the first look inside the feeling brain. Anxiety, depression, PTSD and other mental illnesses are widespread. Doctors aren't trained to deal with an epidemic affecting an estimated 450 million patients.
Why? No medical education exists on the neural basis of emotion— until now.
Emotion is a fundamental aspect of higher brain function. You cannot separate thought from emotion, this is a misconception about how our mind and brain really works.
More education is needed for medical professionals to improve their skills in treating mental illness.
A huge void in medical education exists. The Feeling Brain FILLS THIS VOID.
We want to provide materials not just for psychiatrists and neurologists, but for the hundreds of thousands of other clinicians, and millions of nurses who all come in contact with patients with mental illness every day.
The Feeling Brain series is the first example of a curriculum that addresses this void by showing in a scientific fashion the direct relationship between brain circuitry and structure and treatable medical conditions that are emotional disorders.
The Feeling Brain is produced for two audiences:
A) Continuing Medical Education (CME), University Curriculum + e-Learning
B) Public Education (PBS + other networks, web streaming, digital content)
With your support, our series The Feeling Brain will move medical education and patient care into the 21st century, and broaden our knowledge of what it means to be human.
