My homemade version of “Armored Republics” “A3” plate. This plate did stop m855 going roughly 3080 FPS. The ball ammo shot at 3113 FPS was inconclusive. M855A1 went right through. The takeaway from this video is that the 7075 should be utilized as an addition to the strike face increasing its effectiveness between two materials by keeping it together better. Reducing the thickness of 7075 from .19in to .125in and replacing the lost weight with its equivalent in UHMWPE would maximize the effectiveness of this design.
