If we all have free will, why did God pursue Jonah? Because Jonah is a Prophet (Messenger) that's why God wants him to fulfill that role. Jonah already exercised his free will when he board the ship but because of God's mercy to Nineveh, God wants them to repent and Jonah is needed so God do what is needed to do.
Lesson: Even if we are priest or high status, we all sin as imperfect humans are and free will plays a crucial role, that God see in us of what you wanna do. But in the end just like jonah he is no prophet no more because of what he did.
