At least 31 people were killed and almost 100 injured in the latest in a series of knife and bomb attacks in China's northwestern region of Xinjiang.
The attack took place at an open air market in the region's capital, Urumqi, on Thursday morning (May 22).
Two cross-country vehicles ploughed into shoppers and stands set up at the market at around 7:50 a.m., Explosives were hurled from the windows of the two cars, before one of the vehicles exploded.
Witnesses reported hearing four or five explosions, and photos on Weibo show injured people lying on the ground, and stools and other items scattered across the street.
China has blamed Uighur militant separatists for previous outbreaks of violence in Xinjiang.
