Hello, my name is Andy - Today I'm going to be sharing some tips on how to get the best imprints for your promotional product. This is episode 7 of MARCO's Art 101 series, your blueprints to quality imprints!
Number 1: Make sure you are using a font that is readable! Not only do you want your text to be big enough and bold enough, you want to make sure your font is something that is easy to read. Try to stay away from really elaborate curvy fonts!
Number 2: Place your imprint in a visible location. Often you will have plenty of space on the product you are adding your logo to. Make sure you choose a location that will be seen often. If you are looking for a subtle imprint, be careful in your placement so its not too overpowering or not too hidden depending on your preference. Depending on your needs, the actual promotional item you choose to put your logo on may matter a lot!
Number 3: Certain products need special attention when choosing an imprint! You might want different imprints on a shirt compared to a pen. On a pen you may want to put text alongside a logo. On a shirt, you may want text to overlay your logo. Moreover, the colors will matter. One example would be if you have a navy colored cup, you probably shouldn't print in black! This should be obvious, but imprinting will sometimes exaggerate certain features, so maybe on your computer screen you can see that dark imprint easily on that navy backdrop, but when it prints that may not be the case! Clear products can be tricky, you will often want a darker imprint color. Not only that, you will usually want a fuller, thicker imprint on something that is clear.
And our final tip, number 4: Sometimes it may be best to use only text! Consider the space allotted for your imprint. For example, if your logo is very elaborate and you are imprinting on a small wristband. Save the space by leaving your logo off and just placing your contact info on so it is more readable!
