I had the joy of working in the field of philanthropy for decades before I retired. You know, they say that giving away money is harder than asking for it, but I disagree. Grantmaking has given me such satisfaction for many, many years. My favorite quote is from Aristotle who said, “To give away money is an easy matter, and in any man’s power. But to decide to whom to give it and how large and when, and for what purpose and how, is neither in every man’s power nor an easy matter.”
