This is the first time reviewing a canal and as this stretch is local to me I thought I’d share with you this bargain fishery.
It’s on day ticket for just £3 but for £15 a year it’s probably worth nipping into the tackle shop for a permit. If you’re bringing the kids into canal fishing then it’ll only cost them £7.50 for the whole year. Fishing has never been cheaper and Ken Wards tackle supply fresh maggots, casters, pellets, you name it! Along with all the tackle you could wave a bank stick at.
This stretch is a very active canal and is surrounded by many industrial sites. It also runs right through the spine of Worksop town so there’s litter in a few corners.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re wanting a new stretch of canal to splash in. The rights run from Bracebridge up to lock 44 at Shireoaks. So know your boundaries, stick to the rules and you’ll have a great days fishing.
I’m hungry for some canal fishing now!
Anyway, if any of you go please let me know how you get on. This whole stretch is full of surprise fish and you might end up having your best cabal session yet.
