Jrn Utzon is one of the more enigmatic and elusive characters of twentieth-century architecture. Following the controversy caused by his most famous project - the Sydney Opera House, built between 1957 and 1973 - Utzon became something of a recluse. Since then he has rarely given interviews and his work, which includes the Bagsvaerd Church in Copenhagen, has remained largely unpublished. After several years perseverance, Richard Weston was given access to the architect and his projects in order to publish Utzon, the first comprehensive account of his work. Weston gives a brief outline of the Sydney Opera House project before delving into the complicated background detail of the publication of his monograph.
Richard Weston is Professor of Architecture at Cardiff University.
