If there's one steam locomotive that's suffered from the pandemic, Flying Scotsman instantly becomes an obvious candidate. With her always drawing the crowds, it would prove difficult for her to run with onlookers able to social distance.
But, since the pandemic, times have changed, and 20th May would see the A3 haul Steam Dreams first excursions of the year, as well as their first in 14 months.
Scotsman would be at the head of two sold out Surrey Hills circulars, the first of which is seen at Shere Heath, on the climb of Gomshall Bank. The evening run is seen firstly accelerating away from Virginia Water at Lyne Ln, followed by a quick encounter at Addlestone, just after its water stop at Chertsey. The final and easily favourable shot of the day sees the A3 pacific storming past Gomshall station at an incredible pace, whistling like a good'un!
