In this video we discuss excel multiplication, how to multiply cells times one another in an excel spreadsheet. We go through a couple of examples, including multiplying multiple cells in different rows and columns
Transcript/notes
In this excel spreadsheet we have values in cells A1 and A2, (9,5) and let’s say that we want to multiply these cells and put the answer in cell B4.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to start by left clicking on cell B4, so it is highlighted, then we type in the equals sign, next we left click on the first cell we are multiplying, in this case cell a1, then we type in a multiplication sign, which is this asterisk or star symbol, which is shift 8 on the keyboard, next, we left click on the next cell we are multiplying, cell A2. Then we finish by hitting the enter key and we get an answer of 45.
And you can do this operation for more than 2 cells, and the cells you are multiplying do not need to be in the same column or row, as you see in this example, where I am multiplying cell e1 times cell f3, times cell g2, times cell d4, and we hit the enter key to get our answer.
