One of the Brimstone butterfly caterpillars (Gonepteryx rhamni) has pupated on the Alder Buckthorn bush that had numerous caterpillars. Apparently the caterpillars normally move to another shrub to pupate, which may explain why I have not found the pupae before. Or maybe they were too well camouflaged for me to see them
