Recently it became known that the Norwegian Ministry of Defense is ready to transfer F-35 fighters and Nasams air defense systems to Poland to protect an important logistics hub in Poland from the Kremlin. All this military aid will be sent to Poland already in December, so that in the same month Ukraine will be able to receive all the weapons from the West and continue to resist Putin's army, The Guardian reports .
Moreover, Norway has also sent 100 of its soldiers to Poland , said Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram. The troops will guard the territory and airspace above the airport in Rzeszow. According to Gram, Warsaw is making great efforts to ensure that all military and humanitarian supplies destined for Ukraine arrive in the country on time. Almost all goods go through Rzeszow, including medical evacuations. Putin's army's invasion of Ukraine has demonstrated the great value and importance of air defense systems. Norway has taken this path not only for Ukraine and Poland, but also as part of its NATO commitments. Due to Hungary's refusal to allow military aid to Ukraine to pass through its territory, Poland plays a key role in this logistics. Since the first days of the war, almost all Western aid to Ukraine has passed through Polish territory.
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have demonstrated the value of air defence, and the Norwegian contribution in Poland is highly appreciated. We are doing this primarily for Ukraine and Poland, but it also shows that we stand by our commitments within NATO”, Gram added.
The Defence Minister emphasised that considerations regarding Norway’s security while the mission in Poland is being carried out have been thoroughly assessed. National preparedness and operations are sufficiently maintained.
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Polish Ministry of National Defence head, thanked the Norwegians for their support.
“From December, further strengthening of the security of our borders. Four Norwegian F-35s and their air and anti-aircraft defence systems will protect our space and NATO’s eastern flank. We want to thank our allies from Norway!” he wrote on X.
Earlier, media reported that Norway is ready not only to supply F-16 aircraft to Ukraine , but also to allocate funding for the purchase of spare parts and components for them.
