2023 Ford Ranger Raptor First Drive - It Finally Has A PROPER Engine

Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another first drive video. This time it's the new, second-generation 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor, which features a new, muscular look and some muscle under the bonnet to match.

The last Ford Ranger Raptor had to get by with a somewhat feeble 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel, and whilst that powertrain survives in the new version, there is also a 3.0 litre V6 petrol. That's the engine that is under the bonnet of the Raptor in this video, and unlike North America and Australia that enjoy more power from this unit, in the UK we get 288bhp with 491Nm of torque.

As much as this is a large, heavy pickup truck it offers a respectable 0-62 time as it will do that sprint in 7.9 seconds, and the top speed is 111mph. Given the chassis and the beefed up dampers provided by FOX I imagine you can do that speed pretty much ANYWHERE.

The new Raptor is stronger than ever and features more tech than you'll ever need in order to face any off-roading situation. For starters, there are no less than seven drive modes; Normal, Sport, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, Sand, Baja and Rock Crawl.

There are also four different modes for the exhaust (Quiet, Normal, Sport and Baja) as well as different settings for the steering and the dampers. There is also a low-range gearbox and like the last Raptor, the engine is mated to a 10-speed auto.

Despite dripping in rugged trinketry, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor is far from bare-bones when it comes to equipment as there are leather seats, LED lights, 12" touchscreen, digital display, dual zone climate control, heater steering wheel and electronically and heated front seats to name a few.
