There are 3 areas to watch in the Atlantic. One of which has only a low chance of development while there are 2 others with better chances.
While it's quiet in the tropics close to home, we're monitoring three areas in the Atlantic Basin. The first tropical wave is in the central Atlantic. It will move toward the Lesser Antilles by early next week. It likely won't do much as it moves into a pocket of drier air which should limit further development.
The second tropical wave is a small but a well-defined area that has a low chance of development in the next couple of days.
The third tropical wave is a couple hundred miles south of Cabo Verde Islands and will be running into to some wind shear tomorrow. The NHC actually scaled back the percentage for development in the next 5 days from 40% to 30%.
We'll keep an eye on the three tropical waves in the long-term, but neither will threaten the US for at least a week or more...so no need to really worry about them right now.
