This is a full driving tour of L'ile D'Orleans. The island has about 7000 inhabitants. In 1990, the entire island was designated a National Historic Site of Canada. The full drive around the Island is highly recommended for those are visiting Quebec City or an eastern Canada Road trip.
The drive is very scenic at times but can be also a bit boring. We did it and it took us about an hour and half drive to complete the tour and we just had fun. Consider adding this as one of the must do's in Quebec City.
Since the days of the first French settlers, agriculture has been the main economic activity. Potatoes, strawberries, apples, blueberries, raspberries and maple syrup is produced. There is also viticulture and cheese production. The island, known as the "Garden of Quebec", is still an essentially rural place famous locally for its produce, especially strawberries, apples, potatoes and wineries. Sugar maple stands produce maple syrup and other products.
