Today schools here in Korea are ushering in their new academic year in the absence of indoor mask requirements and plexiglass for the first time since the year 2020.
Accordingly for more on the pandemic situation in the country I have Professor Kim Moon Kyu from Yonsei University.

1) Professor Kim Moon-kyu, what is your current assessment of Korea's daily COVID-19 tallies?

2) Doctor Kim Seung-taek, the broad lifting of indoor mask requirements in late January here does not appear to have led to a rebound in COVID-19 infections.
Do you suppose we are in the final stages of this pandemic?

3) Professor Kim Moon-kyu, authorities have spoken about a complete elimination of Korea's mask mandate this summer.
What are your thoughts regarding this planned measure?

4) Doctor Kim Seung-taek, there is also talk about lifting mandatory isolation for COVID-19 patients.
How do you respond to this potential move?

5) Professor Kim Moon-kyu, previously there had been reports about Paxlovid leading to COVID-19 rebounds, but now, a new study reportedly shows rebounds occur even without Paxlovid.
Could you tell us more?
Also, what has been the rate of rebounds here in Korea?

6) Doctor Kim Seung-taek, yet another study is said to have shown that COVID-19 is linked to a 40% increase in autoimmune disease risks.
Please explain this finding for us.

7) Professor Kim Moon-kyu, long COVID remains an issue of much concern.
What can you tell us about its findings here in Korea?

8) Doctor Kim Seung-taek, does COVID-19 vaccination look to become a regular recommendation, perhaps, like the seasonal flu shot?


9) Professor Kim Moon-kyu, the World Health Organization says COVID-19 remains a global health emergency.
That being said, when do you expect an ease in this alert level?


10) Meanwhile Doctor Kim Seung-taek, what do you recommend with regard to efforts on the treatment front?
I mean, do we need to invest further in developing a cure, or a vaccine for COVID-19 even as we look ahead to an end to this pandemic?

11) Professor Kim Moon-kyu, as mentioned earlier, the academic year has begun here in Korea, what are your words of advice for those in the academic arena?

12) Doctor Kim Seung-taek, what are the prospects of another pandemic in the near future, and how prepared are we to fight it?
