A concert played by autistic children of Angel Music Salon is to be staged at the Shanghai Grand Theater on Sunday, the World Autism Awareness Day.
Cao Xiaoxia, founder of salon, tries to use music to open a door for the autistic children to communicate with the outside world.
"The reason we decided to give the concert is not because they play well. We want both the parents and the children to be confident that they can go up onto the stage. It is enough that they can play an easy melody," said Cao.
To help the autistic children keep on learning music and try to integrate themselves into the society needs unimaginable patience and hard work of the children and their parents.
"Make them not to be anxious or stressed. Make them happy. This is the most important. After that they can learn something they like. Of course you can not expect them to go to work, but at least they will have the way they like to live their life, or something they can kill the time rather than bothering the others. Then they can learn some basic self-care abilities so that they can do some housework and take care of themselves when we are old. It will be the best if they can support themselves," said Zhao Yingyi, mother of Sang Qiwei, one of the children.
The 93-year-old Cao Peng, a well-known conductor, will conduct the symphony orchestra.
Meanwhile, skyscrapers including the the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center will simultaneously light blue lights to mark the World Autism Awareness Day and call for more concerns for the autistic children.
