The hike to Cola de Caballo waterfall is about 10.5 miles long, round-trip. Elevation gain wise, it's around 2,000 feet, and very constant along the whole hike. This makes it relatively easy, if still a long(ish) hike. Expect it to take you some 5 hours round trip. Get there early as the parking lot can fill up really quick. In the summer, you might have to leave the car in the nearby town of Torla and take a bus to the park.

Photography tips: this is a narrow valley so light conditions can be very different depending on which side you are on. A big part of the hike is through a forest, and it will be dark on anything but a sunny and bright day. It was still early but I could see plenty of fall colors, it should get very pretty there, so something to keep in mind if you shoot color. If you do black and white photography like me, things will be more complicated. The forest is dense and it's hard to find trees or other stuff that stand out. Long exposures of the many waterfalls you'll find are definitely an option.
