Yes this is real, from the live broadcast, I’m pretty sure that the uploaded multiple places later has it edited out but the live is also up in places. Of all the places to not have changed the smoke detector battery. The at the time President didn’t even react, which means 1 of 3 things; he didn’t notice somehow, he maintained composure, or he was just used to it and didn’t care. The internet seems to agree on option 3.
The humor is not only in how the Oval Office of all places neglected to change the batteries on the smoke detectors, which they probably knew the age of, before the President had his big important speech. To be fair there could very well be like 3 or 4 smoke detectors in that room not to mention all the hallways and everything. The other part of this being funny might just turn this comment section into a war zone.
