SANTANDER UNITY PLACE – The commissioning of building systems at Unity Place in Milton Keynes is well under way, with over 2,000 test packs generated by an independent Commissioning Management company. The commissioning plan was set 15 months before project completion, and covers all critical MEP systems including:
UPS and 2MW Battery
Gensets / MV / LV Systems
CRAC / DX Units / AHU’s / Chillers
Sprinkler / Gas Suppression
Air / Water Source Heat Pumps
With a full-time team of five specialists on site, Update Group will also be managing ‘Black Building’ testing, which is a simulation of a mains failure to test the functionality, performance and protection of the 2.5 Mw generator and two 1 Mw UPS battery systems.
Our profound appreciation goes out to our supply chain partners who made all this possible, and to our in-house project delivery team a very big thank you.

The best time to start thinking about the building services requirements of your project, is at the same time as your outline brief is being developed. The MEP scope is usually the largest package after construction, up to 25% of total cost on some projects, so getting this right from the outset should be near the top of your list of critical factors.
Speaking to us at this early stage means we can provide a Strategic Analysis of your initial brief and budget estimate, and advise on potential related risks across the entire plan of work.
