Can you smell this orange even though it’s not in your hand? Start thinking about how your past experiences influence what you think and perceive when you fill in the gaps of missing information. Check out [ Ссылка ] to learn more about mastering your communication skills.
Perception is the process of using our senses to gain information about our surrounding environment or situations that help us decide whether we should pay attention to something such as sights, sounds, smells, and other sensations while ignoring others.
When we pay attention to something, we then quickly interpret what it is and how it relates to our existing knowledge of things we know about to give it meaning and accordingly how we can communicate it to others.
We also fill in the gaps of any missing details based on what we already know about something that is similar or has shared characteristics from past exposure to or experience with that thing.
To prove my point here's a great example. This is an orange! And you can see that it is, an orange. Now, pay attention! If I have this wonderful, sweet-smelling orange here, how is it that you can perceive what it smells like from there? Interesting, isn’t it?
