EMBRC has launched a webinar series #EMBRCTechWebinar around how different economic sectors can contribute to a sustainable Blue Economy, moderated by our Industrial Liaison Officer, Mery Piña.

This first session of the EMBRC Technology Webinar will focus on sustainable aquaculture, featuring Vincent Vermeylen, an EMBRC Belgium’s scientific researcher at the Lab of Aquaculture and the Artemia Reference Center (ARC) at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University.

They discuss the critical role aquaculture plays in the broader context of the sustainable Blue Economy and explore how Research Infrastructures can support advancements in this essential sector.

Particularly, they explore these 3 innovative case studies:
- Low-trophic aquaculture integrated with wind farms in the North Sea
- Development of a land-based multi-species hatchery, designed to enhance food security through local production of aquatic food resources
- Evaluation of alternative feed ingredients and their effects on shrimp performance
