Trekking the remote Great Himalayan Trail route between Dolpo (Dolpa) and Mugu, Nepal, the last true wilderness of the Nepali Himalayas. Virgin valleys, clean rivers, towering peaks, flowing glaciers, massive topography, geologic curiosities, endless vistas, entering the arid Tibetan Plateau, and teeming wildlife highlight what could very well be the star of trekking in Asia. This trek took me 21 days, with 18 of those spent hiking, including one "rest day" to visit the village of Mugugaon (Mugu). According to the trekking agency I used, most groups take 28-31 days for the same trek, breaking the hardest days into two parts. I've trekked almost the entirety of the Nepali Himalaya, and this is definitely the most difficult, if not also the most scenic and adventurous of the treks I've done in Nepal, or anywhere in the world.
