I got this comment about not being able to write black characters in my manga, which I disagree with. I think that it is okay for anyone to write outside of their experiences (otherwise I would only be able to write about straight Asian-American boys). Writers just need to be held accountable if they misrepresent and do their own research (consulting with POC, learning about other cultures, etc.)
Either way, I am a writer at Noircaesar (a manga company that focuses on diversity, primarily black and latino cultures) so I need to write black characters. It's my job haha.
