I bought the Roli Lightpad, the Roli Seaboard and the Roli Control block and now I'm selling them all to make space on the desk. I still keep a Roli rise 25 in front of me at all times, so this review will not be too negative, since I love the Roli Products. I didn't like trying to use everything all together at the same time, meaning the Roli rise 25 plus all the blocks as the DAW I was using kept switching MIDI control between the Rise 25 and the blocks, messing up my workflow. I believe that if I only had one midi path it would have been fine, though it was nice to use the Roli Rise 25 more than the seaboard block simply because there is more room for your fingers on the "keys" with the RISE models. I also don't have room on my desk for multiple black boxes. I have enough trouble keeping paper off my studio desk!
G'day, My name is John Green and I make music in my home studio. Since I relocated to Sligo, I've had to do away with almost all my traditional analogue recording devices and sold every piece of gear I had to move to Western Ireland near Keash. Since Covid hit Ireland, I've sold the last of it.
If you are like me, then you have probably had some experience with music and recording and would like to go fully digital for the sake of economics. I'm really starting my studio again in the middle of Ireland's second lockdown, a tough time for many people, I chose to use this as an opportunity to get back in the game and start recording music again.
If you are interested in recording music via Roli controller, be it the Rise or the Roli Blocks, or Roli light-pad via BITWIG then you are in the right place. I've never used any of these products before, including the software, so tune in and follow my progress as I go from old school analogue to 5 Dimensional MIDI soundscapes over the next months until I have something worth releasing officially! Bless.
