The Digital Future: An interview with Pierpaolo Barbieri Ualá/Greenmantle
Why you should watch: If you believe Pierpaolo Barbieri (and you should), the digital future is going to speak Spanish - or Mandarin. He is the Harvard/Cambridge historian/internet entrepreneur who is doing to Latin America (with the backing, among others, of George Soros) what Andrew Carnegie did to the US a hundred and fifty years ago - only with FinTech, rather than steel. Ualá is a phenomenon - based in the distinctly unpropitious neighbourhood of Argentina, but expanding rapidly North. His views - on China, on privacy, on the 'Pink Tide' that is allegedly sweeping America (South and North) - have real clout behind them; worth a detour.
Moderators: Andrew Hilton (Director, CSFI) & Leighton Hughes (FinTech Lead, CSFI)
Pierpaolo Barbieri is the founder of Ualá, Latin America's fastest-growing financial management tool, and ED of Greenmantle, a macroeconomic and geopolitical consultancy. He is a former Ernest May Fellow at the Kennedy School, educated at Harvard and Cambridge, and the author of several well-received books - including a history of Nazi Germany's involvement in the Spanish civil war. He has also been a strategic advisor at the Institute for New Economic Thinking.
