(2 Oct 2015) Leftist guerrillas and the Colombian Government started a new round of peace talks Friday in Cuba's capital.
It's the first round of peace talks since both sides announced an agreement in September over how to administer justice for human rights abuses committed by all sides.
Negotiators from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have cast some doubt over how firm the agreement over the special tribunals were, leading the Colombian government to issue a special statement on Friday reaffirming their commitment to the justice accord.
At a news conference in Havana, FARC chief negotiator chief negotiator Ivan Marquez called the agreement "simply an informative note signed by both sides."
Colombia's lead negotiator Humberto De la Calle said on Friday at separate news conference called it a "firm agreement on which there is no doubt from the government."
Both sides have given themselves a self-imposed deadline of March 2016 to sign off on a final peace accord.
