Diabetic nephropathy is a #kidneydisease that occurs due to diabetes. High glucose levels in the blood can damage the kidneys and lower kidney function. As our #kidneys have the main function to filter blood and due to high sugar levels, kidneys reduce its function. 40% of the kidney patient suffers from kidney failure due to diabetic nephropathy. Due to the low filtration of the kidneys, waste material like #creatinine and #urea accumulates in the body and causes several symptoms. When blood sugar levels increase above 180mg/dL it causes problems as arteries get blocked.
Our kidneys also have the efficacy to increase its function, unlike the liver which can regenerate. Patients are advised to work on the root cause as it can neutralize high sugar levels and damage to the kidneys' can stop.
A patient can also identify the main cause of kidney failure by noticing the size and level of creatinine. If kidneys are normal in size with high creatinine level then it is called #diabeticnephropathy while in #ischemicnephropathy kidney shrink in size and creatinine level also increases.
