Our mission is to assist the next generation of pianists through a holistic program of piano tailored to foster excellence and to promote leading artists.
During this program, students will benefit from private instruction from Artist Faculty Members, the opportunity to play in a public master class by Faculty Members, and several performance opportunities, including a final recital taking place at Dublin’s Hugh Lane Gallery. The teaching at DIPF stresses an ethic based on support rather than competition. In addition to emphasising the solo repertoire, students also explore the ensemble piano literature.
Every student will engage in daily private lessons and will have practice time during their stay. Other musical opportunities will be offered, such as concerts by guest performers, lectures on topics related to piano playing, and seminar courses on subjects such as piano literature, practice methods, technique and performance psychology. DIPF is an ideal place to try out concert programs and to prepare for competitions.
Designed to foster the highest excellence in piano playing, this intensive program will be split between the Piano Academy of Ireland in the peaceful village of Rathgar and the National Concert Hall, located only 10 minutes away in Dublin City. Rathgar is an ideal setting for focused learning, while retaining all the benefits of the rich culture of city, only a short bus ride away. DIPF also offers an opportunity for pianists to nurture their own friendships, performance opportunities, and contacts with the residents of the community. Dublin attracts visitors from around the world, while local residents of Rathgar include renowned authors, artists and musicians. Students enjoy the summer in Dublin, known for famous nightlife as well as lovely natural settings.
For decades, Ireland has been the center of a great musical and artistic culture. The warm and welcoming musical audience of Dublin is one of the friendliest in the world. Every year the city witnesses numerous local concert series, music festivals, and competitions. The DIPF differs from other local events in that it invites both local and international pianists to share their talents and diverse musical backgrounds with the eager and friendly ears of Dubliners.
