Having sold out both Village underground with his spellbinding live set ‘Emergence’ and Corsica Studios for a massive all night long stint behind the decks Max Cooper will be returning... in full surround sound.
This unique show will give the audience a chance to be immersed in a unique full surround sound experience as Max takes his sound set into a groundbreaking realm, in east London’s number one warehouse space.
Max Cooper has developed a reputation for effortlessly being able to walk the line between emotive dance floor experimentation and flawlessly created warped soundscapes. His Dj sets echo the many styles and influences that he combines so uniquely in his own productions, effortlessly veering from the straighter end of techno into the more beat orientated and twisted sounds of experimental electronica. His ability to craft a set has been widely praised and Max’s BBC R1 Essential Mix was recently named Dancing Astronaut's no 1 mix of 2015.
Born in 1980 and raised in Belfast, his university years saw his first forays into DJing and genetics, leading to a PhD in computational biology while releasing his first work in 2007. Since then, he has left behind his academic career and expanded his musical palette to include psychoacoustics, 3D sound design, field recordings, a focus on melody rare in electronic music circles, and work with artists including noted contemporary classical composers Michael Nyman and Nils Frahm; pop acts Hot Chip, Au Revoir Simone, BRAIDS, MMOTHS and Halls; pianist Tom Hodge and a jazz trio including UK vocalist Kathrin de Boer.
Supporting Max with a live performance is Guy Andrews, a London based musician and music producer who is best known for creating textural electronic music, which combines an array of influences from post-rock, techno, ambient and afrobeat inspired genres.
Warm up founder Aidan Doherty will be providing support, well known for exploring a wide range of techno from dark and progressive, to uplifting and melodic Doherty is definitly someone worth watching.
Tickets to this very special occasion are sure to be snapped up fast so make sure you grab yourself a spot before they’re gone.
"Max Cooper explored the effect's extremes, shooting turbulent FX around the room, or deconstructing his compositions into swirling particulate clouds. These big gestures were perfectly suited to his music, a grandiose tour through indie electronica, post-prog, glitch-funk. The room was packed and happy, responding vocally to the electronica equivalent of a blockbuster spectacle. It was virtuosic music."
