George Egg is the Snack Hacker, demonstrating fast, easy, innovative ideas for tasty bites.
The brilliant Adam Purnell joins George this time to tell him about his super-simple barbeque pizza sauce hack, and armed with the idea George revisits the naan pizza with a few hacks of his own. He also gets to use a new toy.
INGREDIENTS:
1 naan (ideally the large circular ones)
hot sauce (try experimenting with different ones)
spiced tomato juice
mozzarella (1 ball)
mild cheddar
3 Peperami Firesticks
METHOD:
Get your oven as hot as it will go. Splosh some hot sauce onto the naan along with a bigger splosh of spiced tomato juice and spread it around. Rip the cheese up and grate over some mild cheddar and finally top with thin slices of the Peperami. Slide it into the oven until bubbling. Finish with a trickle of good olive oil and some freshly ground black pepper.
I used Big Tom spiced tomato juice but you could try it with plain, or try spicing up with some Bloody Bens Bloody Mary mix, which is well worth tracking down. The sauces I used are by Patty and Bun and Trodden Black and they’re all available from the brilliant Bauce Brothers, my go-to guys for hot sauce. The tiny mandolin is from Kitchen Provisions, a great resource for fab kitchen tools and run by good folk.
