Brooke Sprowl, owner and CEO of My LA Therapy, featured on Broken Brain 2 - promo about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a lot of mental health symptoms can be traced back to irrational thoughts and distorted world views, black and white thinking. And so CBT basically takes the scientific method and applies them to our irrational thoughts. So we look at the evidence for, the evidence against, we synthesize the evidence and we create a more balanced worldview and in doing so we can often alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, even problems with relationships because we start to bridge the split between the either or mentality or the assumption mentality of “this is the truth” and we can begin to approach the world with more flexibility and less anxiety.
