To mark Black History Month, Esi Edugyan, Chair of the Booker Prize 2023 judges, joined National Prison Radio presenter Ali for a wide-ranging conversation about her 2018 Booker Prize-shortlisted novel Washington Black.
National Prison Radio is the world’s first national radio station for people in prison. It’s run by the Prison Radio Association, a charity based in HMP Brixton and HMP Styal. It broadcasts into prison cells across England and Wales 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every evening at 11pm it broadcasts Books Unlocked, a programme produced in partnership with the National Literacy Trust and the Booker Prize Foundation which features readings from shortlisted titles.
