We spent a week with the 2024 Mazda3 Turbo Hatchback. While the premium plus trim all wheel drive does approach 40K dollars, it stands alone and undercuts the cost of premium brands. The only apple to apple competitor would be the VW Golf R, but that will cost you dearly. While the 250 horsepower and 320 lb-feet of torque get all the attention, its really the transmission and AWD system working with the turbo engine that makes this car truly special. If you are on the fence between the turbo and n/a, don't fret. The NA is no slouch and has all the same premium vibe but with more normal handling and speed. On the highway, they are nearly identical in their comfort and road tripability. @MazdaUSA
