Broken appointments (no shows / cancelled appointments) are a big concern in my practice and I’m assuming you can’t avoid them either.
However, all you can do in your practice is implement systems to reduce them from happening.
Once a patient breaks an appointment, you must decide if it’s a patient you’d like to keep in the practice.
If it’s a patient you’d like to keep in the practice - set up follow-ups immediately as a reminder for your team to bring these patients back.
I have my team follow-up in a timely manner - don’t call them a whole 6 months later.
You can start with the 3-3-3 rule - 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months - you follow-up until the patient tells you not to follow-up anymore.
Stay consistent with your follow-ups: if you have no proper systems in place for what you’re supposed to do - things happen on a random basis - some patients will be followed up with and some won’t.
As always, instead of always focusing on goals, focus on your SYSTEMS and processes!
