Storm Ashley Set to Hit Bucharest on Sunday
Visitors to Bucharest should prepare for significant weather changes as Storm Ashley approaches the region. This cyclone, driven by maritime polar air, is expected to sweep through Romania starting Saturday evening, with its peak intensity occurring on Sunday evening.
Bucharest and other country’s southern counties are anticipated to be one of the most affected areas.
Arrival and Impact: The storm will first hit Western Romania (Arad-Timișoara area) on Saturday before moving toward central Romania, impacting Cluj and Transylvania. It will intensify in Bucharest and surrounding areas by Sunday afternoon, bringing heavy rains and strong winds.
Weather Warnings: The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a Code Red alert for several regions, indicating severe storm conditions. The storm will bring significant cooling, with temperatures dropping from 34°C on Friday to around 22°C in the south and even lower in intra-Carpathian areas.
