This is my amateur TAS attempt of a speedrun of Strikers 1945 for the Playstation. It isn't too great of a speedrun, but learning how to utilize the emulator's tools to be able to play the game and record my run. Huge note is that this is a work-in-progress, so there is huge room for improvements. I plan to make the run much better and more entertaining in the future.
About the game, Strikers 1945 (Or Strikers 1945 II in the arcardes) is a side-scroll action game. The objective is to fight through the enemy defenses to eliminate a secret weapon. At normal and above, there is a level 2, which takes the difficulty a step higher, and has no continues if you happen to lose all your lives. Also, at high difficulties, the final mission accomplished screen will show different photographs, each revealing more of the pilot. After beating it the second time, you will get the game over screen and the end video credits, the same one as when you finish the missions at lower difficulties.
The plane I used is notorious to usually get the high score because the assist pods that fly and home in on an enemy and attacks it until it is defeated, then aims for the next target or continues off screen if there is no enemies. This plane's special does not block projectiles, and it's assist (not used in the run) does not remain in the battle for much. Perhaps the most difficult to use when it comes to defense.
Each enemy has a pattern of projectile style they use, with 3 different size projectiles. The small ones has a hit box similar to it's graphics size, as so as the medium size ones. The large ones interestingly has a hit box similar to the medium, so you can seem to touch the projectile without actually touching the hit box, allowing you to slip through them.
Just a work in progress, and not really impressive, and also supposedly the world record is about 2.6 million, and I was 100K shy of it. Things I see I can improve is obviously not to die once, and when the gold shines at it's brightest, it yields the max score of 2000. I also try to obtain all medals in the game to make it a full run. I will try to not leave any enemy behind which would also achieve more scores. And one more improvement, I will do more fly-in-the-fray maneuvers, which means more close-call bullet dodges, so it don't look kind of cowardly.
I hope to come back to it and make it better.
