Reductio Ad Absurdum is a kind of argumentation in which one tries to disprove the premises of an argument by showing that at least one of its logical conclusions is absurd. When used strictly, this kind of argument can be productive, and even central to logic. However, many people use the term "absurdity" in an intentionally vague and loose way, in order to smuggle in their preexisting beliefs without challenging them. That is the problem that this video tackles.
